On my way home from my last trip out to the Derwent, I gave some thought to how I could gain a little more traffic to the blog, and give me a way to improve my fishing.
Mid way along the A694, as I passed through Rowlands Gill, I had a moment of clarity – it was here the idea was born, a weekly give away of my home tied flies. To go along with the giveaway, I needed a snappy title. It’s not going to cost anything, they’re flies, it’ll happen every week and I’ll be giving five away at a time.
So with no further adieu people, I give you:
The Friday Five Free Fly Giveaway!
I’ll be tying five flies of my choosing and post them to the owner of a randomly selected tweet or comment.
There’ll be no charge what so ever (otherwise known as ‘free’) to the weekly winner, though if I end up spending a small fortune on overseas postage I may have to adjust the rules slightly. But for now, I’ll keep it nice and simple.
What you have to do
All you need to do is leave a comment on the site or post a tweet with the hash tag #fridayfivefreefly and link to the site. If you leave a comment and post a tweet, you double your chances
Don’t forget to leave your email address for comments on the blog, I’ll contact you for postage address either through your twitter account or email.
It goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway, I won’t be sending on your email addresses or any other contact details to anybody – ever. I hate spam and unwanted emails as much as the next bloke, so worry not.
This weeks free fly
To start things off, this weeks free fly will be a pink post, grizzle hackled parachute fly, tied on a size 14 Kamasan B170 hook.
For my part, I’m going to get some solid fly tying practice. I need a decent reason to sit down in front of the vice, I always find something else to do, so this should help no end. If I can increase the visitors to the blog, well that’d be nice too.
Post your tweets and add your comments, I’ll pick this weeks winner at 10pm on the evening of Thursday 30th May.
