September dates for your diary

It may be getting to the end of the season, but there are still events on out there for you to enjoy. And, if like me you’ve got your mother in law coming to stay this weekend and need an excuse to get out the way for a few hours, read on I have an ideal distraction for you!

Hardy Experience Day

For the second time this year, Hardy are opening their doors to us lot and showing us how they make their rods. Not only that, but the Hardy Experience Day will also have casting demos, special discounts in the store and have a host of people there for you to meet.

All the fun takes place on Saturday the 7th September, doors open for the factory Doors at 10am, by which time everything else should be in full swing.

Charity Fly Fishing Event

Sunday 15th September sees a novel fly fishing competition taking place at Chatton Trout Fishery, Alnwick. Held in aid of HospiceCare North Northumberland, the fancy dress fly fishing competition starts at 9am and goes through until 1pm. Afterwards there’ll be a BBQ, numerous prizes for the entrants of the fishing competition and a charity raffle.

The event is being organised by Lucy Bowden who told me there are still a few places left. Drop her a mail at or call 07890 51939 to put your name down.

If the warm and fuzzy feeling you get when raising money for a good cause isn’t reason enough for you to want to attend, I’ll be there helping for the day – there that’s sealed the deal for you, hasn’t it?? Go on give Lucy a ring and book your place.
